Description

Leea sp. Asmat Silver is a rare tropical foliage plant associated with Asmat, South Papua, Indonesia. Since it is still labeled as “sp.”, the exact species has not been formally confirmed, so it is best introduced as a locality/trade form rather than a named species. This Silver form is different from the more common Leea sp. Asmat form. The common form usually has less silver and tends to show more green on the leaves, while this Silver form has a stronger silver appearance. Based on trade information, this form is considered less commonly available in cultivation. This plant has long, narrow silver leaves with deep green markings along the veins, creating a bold fishbone-like pattern. The leaves spread outward in a clean, star-like shape, giving the plant a sharp and striking look. The leaves are also thick and stiff, which gives the plant a more structured appearance compared to softer tropical foliage plants. Its strong silver tone makes it stand out easily among darker jungle plants. Light: Bright indirect light is best. Avoid harsh direct sun. Water: Keep slightly moist; water when the top layer is nearly dry. Avoid drying out completely. Humidity: 60–85% is recommended. Temp: 20–28°C. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 18°C. Mix: Airy + moisture-holding mix, such as coco/peat + perlite + small bark. Extra Note: The silver pattern looks best in stable humidity and soft light. Too much direct sun may stress the leaves or fade the clean silver look.
